Cleaning hot tub filters is now over forever

We all know this. The hot tub shows an error message that the hot tub filters are clogged or shuts down completely and no longer heats. Therefore, we all have to constantly (usually way too often) clean the filters of our hot tub. And as we all know, this is quite cumbersome. When unscrewing, a lot of dirt from the paper cartridge filter goes back into the water. Then you have to rinse it - soak it in a cleaning solution - rinse again - preferably with high pressure and especially actually from inside to outside (which is almost impossible). The parts are usually very bulky, sometimes don't even fit in a sink, and in winter, the mess with the wet things is a nightmare anyway. And after 3,4,5 times cleaning it's over and we have to buy the next filter again and lose another 30-80 euros depending on the hot tub brand.
With the EGO³ hot tub filter it is much easier. The dirt stays in the filter. Cleaning is very quick and easy and the filter material, when it eventually can no longer be cleaned, is simply replaced with new material, but at least it is much cheaper.
Because the material is very inexpensive, we calculated what happens if you simply never clean the balls. That means if balls are very dirty, they are simply replaced with new ones.
Hot tub filter cleaning costs
Here is our calculation for a hot tub filter cleaning with two filters:
- The circulation filter already filters out about 90% of the dirt, meaning the second filter only needs to be replaced about every fourth time.
- The EGO3 filter must be cleaned about every 8-16 weeks. We calculate with the midpoint of 12 weeks.
- The dirt does not distribute evenly, meaning the top balls are already very dirty. The bottom balls hardly at all. So only about 80% of the balls are replaced during a change.
- All this results in a need for 45 balls per year for the circulation filter and 12 balls for the massage pump filter.
- A big bag of EGO3 filter balls contains about 250 filter balls. This costs 99,- euros including shipping if I order it individually.
- That results in costs of 25.22 euros per year!
RESULT:
25.22 euros per year and you NEVER have to clean hot tub filters again!
Even if you use the pool very, very heavily, we even double that and include 50,- in the calculation. But that is still much cheaper than repurchasing replaceable paper/fleece filter cartridges, but as said never clean filters again and the other advantages like less chemical use, clearer water, and longer component lifespan come free of charge!
Conclusion: Even if you never clean EGO3 filter balls but simply replace them, this system is significantly cheaper than all existing hot tub filters with filter paper or filter fleece. And there is nothing against it for environmental reasons either. Old filter cartridges are residual waste that goes to the landfill. EGO3 filter material is made from recycled material and is recycled again. So you don't produce any waste at all.
