Filter balls - filter balls

Filterbälle-filterballs EGO3 Filter

Filter Balls are the backbone of our innovative unique filter method.

There are various filter balls on the market. Basically, they can be divided into 2 main categories:

fiber balls:

These are filter balls made from endless fibers, just like the Ego3 filter balls. There are also various versions here depending on the application. There are specially optimized ones for swimming pools, machine tools, and pond systems. Ego3 filter balls for Ego3 hot tub filter are, for example, specifically optimized in terms of fiber and composition for use in whirlpools to offer our customers the best price-performance ratio. Their advantages are:
    1. low flow resistance due to the open structure
    2. very high dirt absorption due to the open structure
    3. very easy to clean also due to the fiber structure
    4. filters every particle from 1 micron

Cotton balls (mostly white):

These are filter balls made of compressed cotton. They are very dense and compact. Actually, this is a Chinese imitation of the fiber balls, but just an imitation, because a patent and a lot of know-how stand in between. Their disadvantages are:
    1. expensive, although they cost very little, because you need much more due to the short shelf life and the difficult cleaning
    2. clumping: the filter balls are much too dense, which quickly leads to clumping and flow problems in the pool and hot tub (they are also not backwashable in the pool)
    3. difficult to clean, as the dirt is hardly removable from the dense filter ball structure
    4. must be cleaned very often.

In summary, one can say: Filterballs made of fiber material are the right and best solution for water filtration and Whirlpool water care. Cotton filter balls are a cheap and poor copy of fiber filter balls, which, although cheap, are overall expensive and require much more effort or can even damage the whirlpool.
