Filterballs are the backbone of our innovative unique filter method.
There are different filter balls on the market. Basically, they can be divided into 2 main categories:
Fiber balls:
These are filter balls made from continuous fibers, like the Ego3 filterballs. There are also various variants depending on the application. There are specially optimized ones for swimming pools, machine tools, and pond systems. Ego3 filterballs for Ego3 hot tub filters are, for example, specially optimized in terms of fiber and composition for use in hot tubs to offer our customers the best price-performance ratio. Their advantages are:
- hardly any flow resistance due to the open structure
- very high dirt absorption due to the open structure
- also very easy to clean due to the fiber structure
- filters every particle from 1 micron
Cotton balls (mostly white):
These are filter balls made of compressed cotton. They are very dense and compact. Actually, this is a Chinese imitation of the fiber balls, but just an imitation, because a patent and a lot of know-how stand in between. Their disadvantages are:
- expensive, although they cost very little, because you need much more due to the short durability and difficult cleaning
- clump: the filter balls are far too dense and therefore clumping and flow problems occur very quickly in pools and hot tubs (they are also not backwashable in pools)
- hard to clean, as the dirt is hardly removable from the dense filter ball structure
- must be cleaned very often.
In summary, it can be said: Filterballs made of fiber material are the right and best solution for water filtration and hot tub water care. Cotton filter balls are a cheap and poor copy of fiber filter balls, which, although cheap, are expensive overall and require much more time and can even damage the hot tub.
