Are there whirlpools with only one euro per day electricity consumption?

1 Euro per day hot tub power consumption?

The differences in electricity consumption between premium providers and cheap products are enormous. We know reports of electricity costs ranging from 30 to 250 euros and more per month! And so an alleged hot tub bargain quickly becomes a financial bottomless pit. And the ongoing operation quickly costs more than the entire hot tub ever cost at purchase. Therefore, be very careful about what you buy. Unfortunately, the ongoing costs of a hot tub can exceed the purchase price many times over, and a 4000-euro hot tub was not cheap if I then need 2000 euros per year for operation. The hot tub electricity consumption is therefore the most important point in the ongoing costs.

What are the reasons for these differences? What is important for a low hot tub energy consumption?

  1. the perfect hot tub cover: with highly insulating foam, all-around outer sealing lip, sealing strip between the two cover halves, suitable fasteners for tensioning, and in general, the cover should be as thick as possible.
  2. the perfect overall insulation: Fully foam-insulated models definitely consume less electricity than all comparable partially insulated models. Regardless of the fancy names these reduced insulations are given :-) So don't be fooled by names like Arctic Pack, Premium Insulation, Top Insulation, etc. In my opinion, full foam saves 50% of heat loss compared to partial foaming. However, there are only a few premium providers like Artesian Spas, Hotsprings, Sundance, etc. who dare to do this, as the workmanship must be perfect. These manufacturers also guarantee electricity consumption of about 1 Euro per day. Leaks would be a problem with full foam, so the rule applies: Whoever fully foams builds pools that do not leak! That's why these whirlpools are also more expensive, but you quickly save about 6,000 Euros in electricity costs over 10 years!
  3. the perfect component selection for whirlpool operation:
    • small efficient circulation pump!!! Here you can find everything from 80 watts to 500 watts. Sometimes also two-stage large pumps that circulate with a low stage and 500 watts. That means with 20 hours of circulation time, there is about a difference of 8 kWh per day in power consumption
    • efficient brand massage pumps

A few manufacturers guarantee low power consumption in writing. Notable here are Artesian Spas /Beta Wellness (Made in USA products from Artesian Spas - except Beta's own Infinity&Eco line), Hotsprings and Sundance/Armstark (Sundance Spas made in Mexico - except the second cheap Chinese brand). Here about 1 Euro per day (at 21 cents/KWH) is guaranteed. Many other manufacturers talk about it. Many also falsely promise it, but in writing it is only available from very few like the three mentioned above. And the differences are striking. With a cheap Chinese product, you quickly have 3 Euros per day in power consumption, which amounts to a 7000 Euro difference in power consumption over 10 years!

So that you can distinguish reputable providers from "less reputable" ones and also see exactly how much your hot tub really costs (including 10 years of operation), I have prepared a comparison table for download after this article. This table queries all relevant data and you can have it confirmed by the whirlpool seller. This way, you have an objective comparison of the actual costs you will incur.

So be careful and have the power consumption confirmed in writing!!!
